The Bespoke Practice

What we make, when we make to order.

Bespoke commissions are pieces that do not exist until someone asks for them. Made in dialogue with you, over four to eight weeks, in our Jaipur atelier, each one conceived for a specific room, a specific occasion, or a specific person.

Oorvaya takes commissions for almost anything that can be hand forged in silver, from a single considered object to a large sculptural work.

If it can be silver, it can be Oorvaya.

WHAT WE WILL MAKE

There are five kinds of commissions we take.

I.

THE FAMILY HEIRLOOM

A piece made to be passed down, for the birth of a child, for a significant anniversary, for the next generation.

II.

THE COLLECTOR'S PIECE

A sculptural or one of one work for a serious silver collection, typically larger, more architectural, made over six to eight weeks.

III.

THE GIFT FOR THE OCCASION

A wedding, a milestone, a moment that needs to be marked with something real, engraved with intention, presented with care.

IV.

THE STORY YOU WANT TOLD

A piece made for a specific memory, a specific room, a specific person, designed in collaboration, shaped by what you describe.

V.

THE PIECE WE HAVEN'T YET IMAGINED

Almost anything that can be hand forged in silver. We take inquiries for the unexpected.

If it can be silver, it will find its form.

The Process

From the first conversation to the finished piece.

THE CONVERSATION
Every commission begins with a letter. We read it carefully, ask what we need to understand, and take the time to know what the piece needs to be before anything else begins.

THE SKETCH
Once the brief is clear, we send sketches and dimensions for review. Adjustments are made until the design feels right, sometimes in one round, sometimes in several.

THE MAKING
Production happens in our atelier. Each piece is hand forged by master craftspeople, approximately two weeks at the bench for most work, longer for larger commissions.
IV
THE DELIVERY
The finished piece is hand packaged and delivered. Within India, by trusted courier; internationally, fully insured. For very large work, we install personally.

Timeline: Four to eight weeks, from the first conversation to the finished piece in hand.

To commission a piece is to participate in the making of it.
