The Garden on the Hill

A garden does not usually rise from silver. This one does.

A garden does not usually rise from silver. This one does.

THE MAKING

Six weeks in Jaipur, in the hands of a small team who each knew one part of it completely. Two shaped the concept and laid the enamel; two raised the silver body; others carried it, patiently, to its finish.

The polishing alone took three days, every surface cleared and sharpened entirely by hand, until the pierced lattice, each separately formed blossom, and the peacock’s gem set tail held the light exactly as they were meant to.

Nothing here was made quickly. Nothing here could be.
